The City of Boston and the Boston Public Schools offer employees a variety of resources and benefits. Information and access to many of these benefits are now available online.
State Ethics Reform Law
As of December 2009, all employees of Boston Public Schools must acknowledge receipt of the Summary of the State Ethics Reform Law on an annual basis.
Chapter 28 of the Acts of 2009, the recently enacted ethics reform law, imposes new mandatory education and training requirements on public employers and public employees. Every state, county, and municipal employee must be given a summary of the conflict of interest law prepared by the Ethics Commission and must complete an online training program prepared by the Commission.
Steps
- Read the Summary of the Conflict of Interest Law for Municipal Employees.
- Take the Online Training Program (currently due April 2010)
- If you have access to the Hub (see below), sign in, click on Document Library and then on the Conflict of Interest Onl Form to acknowledge receipt
Employees without Access to the Hub
Please see your supervisor or director to sign off that you have received the summary.
MyBPS
MyBPS is the Boston Public Schools' Intranet portal that provides teachers, administrators, and other BPS staff with access to the essential, everyday information and resources they need to enhance teaching and learning across the district. MyBPS is a secure site containing confidential student records and therefore requires users to enter a login and password.
For MyBPS technical issues, BPS employees should contact their school Technology Support Teacher (TST) or the Office of Instructional and Information Technology (OIIT) Help Desk: 617-635-9200, 7 a.m. - 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The Hub
The Hub is the City of Boston's Employee Intranet portal, allowing you to view City news and login to "My Hub" which allows you to:
- Review current enrollments in City-provided benefit plans
- View and print a copy of your paycheck
- Edit or set up direct deposit to your bank or credit union
- Access W4 tax information or request reissue of your W2
- Update name, address, telephone, email and emergency contact information
- Apply for job postings
The following types of employees do not currently have access to the Hub:
- HotLine Worker
- Summer School-only Employee
- Stipend Employee
- Student/Student Teacher
- Substitute Lunch Monitor
- Cafeteria Attendant
- Bus Monitors/Transportation Attendant
- Tutor

BPS SubCentral allows Teachers, Substitute Teachers and School Administrators to access the substitute system from any phone or Internet-enabled computer 24x7.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
At no cost, City of Boston employees and their family members are eligible to participate in an Employee Assistance Program (EAP). The EAP is a comprehensive benefit for those looking for solutions to a wide variety of personal and workplace problems such as grief, daily stress, depression, and drug dependency. The EAP's staff members are mental health professionals who are trained to listen, counsel, and refer employees and their family members to appropriate services if necessary. Confidentiality is of paramount importance, and no one at BPS can gain access to a person's EAP records without his or her written permission.
